Human Rights Scrutiny

Human Rights legislation in several Australian jurisdictions includes a requirement for parliament to scrutinise proposed legislation for compatibility with human rights.

ACT

In the ACT, the Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety fulfills this function including tabling regular reports examining Bills after they are presented.

The ACT Parliamentary Counsel, which drafts legislation, has also developed resources on ACT legislation.
