Cultural safety & rights to culture

This lecture, delivered to ANU health science students earlier in the year, explores:

  • Cultural safety: origins and organisations implementing the concept
  • How the Commission developed its cultural safety charter
  • What the ACT’s Human Rights Act says about rights to culture
  • Cultural safety for children and young people in care
  • What people can if their rights to cultural safety are breached.

The lecture features President and Human Rights Commissioner, Dr Helen Watchirs and the Commission’s cultural advisor and community liaison officer, Karen Flick.
