Cultural liaison officer joins Victim Support ACT

Our first cultural liaison officer, Zouheir Dalati, began with Victim Support ACT this year. Zouheir will be supporting victims of crime from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with reporting crime, court support and accessing a range of services.

He will raise awareness and increase understanding of victims’ rights and services within the multicultural communities in the ACT, and check-in with culturally and linguistically diverse people affected by crime, to ensure that the responses they receive are timely and culturally appropriate.

Zouheir has extensive experience delivering frontline services to clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Before joining the Commission, he was a tracing and human trafficking case manager with the Australian Red Cross, and a cultural liaison officer and migration law program coordinator at Legal Aid ACT.

He began his career in Syria as a criminal lawyer, and is studying to practise law in Australia.  He speaks English, French and Arabic.
