COVID-19 lockdown: information for our clients

The health and wellbeing of our clients, the community and our staff during the current lockdown is our number one priority. We are putting in place measures to ensure that we can continue to deliver services to the ACT community without placing people at unnecessary risk.

Any further updates to our services will be posted here and to our social media, so please keep in touch or subscribe to updates for the latest available information.

General information about COVID-19 and the lockdown, including its current status, advice if you have been in contact with a confirmed case, and self-quarantine information, should be sought from the official ACT government COVID-19 website which is regularly updated with reliable information and advice.

Our office

Our physical office in Canberra is closed to the public, but our services remain open during our usual business hours. We are still available via the phone numbers and email addresses you already have for us, including our enquiry line on 02 6205 2222.

Enquiry line

Our enquiry line is continuing to operate as usual between  9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. If you would like more information about our services or would like to talk to someone about how to make a complaint, call us on 02 6205 2222 or email human.rights@act.gov.au. You can also fill in the online enquiry or complaint form and we will get back to you.

Complaints and conciliation conferences

We are continuing to accept complaints and to conduct conciliation conferences during this period, although not as face-to-face meetings. All conciliation conferences are being undertaken by phone or videoconferencing, unless there are exceptional circumstances which warrant a face-to-face meeting. Please be assured that we take every complaint seriously, and that we are working to deliver quality and timely services as best we can.

Services for victims of crime

Victim Support ACT remains open and ready to assist you. The best way to contact us is by phone: 02 6205 2222 or by email: victimsupportintake@act.gov.au. If you need urgent help about your safety, including if you are reading this out of business hours, you can also call Police on 000, the Domestic Violence Crisis Service on 02 62 800 900 or the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre on 02 6247 2525.

Advocacy services for vulnerable people

We remain available to take concerns in relation to people experiencing vulnerability and who need advocacy support to facilitate their access to supports and services. We will continue to monitor and respond to the situations of current clients/consumers with whom we have been working, and will maintain oversight of the services and systems for which we have responsibility.
